Superhero Math Solutions!

I teach Grade 3 in Ontario. We incorporate problem-solving as the basis of our Math teaching. Open-ended questions are our favourite--even on tests or quizzes! We utilize Bansho or Congress for students to share their strategies. We do a lot of explicit teaching about Accountable Talk and how to work with our Math partner.

Here is our Math Problem Solving process. We teach this explicitly from the beginning of the year.

Below you will see an example of a unit test that we administer. We don't love "testing," but we do have to live with the reality of standardized testing. I will post more about how we create balanced tests another day!

This is my first official post on my new blog! I hope to keep up with it because I LOVE reading other teachers' blogs, which I have found through Pinterest and Teachers Pay Teachers. It's an amazing new world of professional development and dialogue, which I LOVE!!!!

I'm also trying to use Instagram to post photos, so you can follow me there @teachstagram !
